Dan Dunn, PhD, is the Senior Vice President of Business Solutions, HMS, for Ingenix, responsible for developing healthcare measurement solutions to help customers meet their business needs. These solutions leverage a number of Ingenix products, including Impact Intelligence™, a decision-support tool that can be used to measure performance around provider cost and quality of care, Impact Pro™, a high-risk predictive modeling tool, and the industry leading Ingenix-Symmetry suite of analytic engines (ETGs, PEGs, and EBM Connect).
Prior to joining Ingenix, Dr. Dunn worked as an economist at the Harvard University School of Public Health where he spent eight years as technical director of the RBRVS Project; a study to develop a physician payment system for the Medicare program. While at Harvard, Dr. Dunn also led the first Society of Actuaries Risk Adjusters Study (1995) comparing different methods of health risk assessment. More recently, he has chaired a panel for NCQA on measuring the relative resource efficiency of health plans and providers and has assisted NCQA with the development of the new HEDIS Relative Resource Use (RRU) measures implemented in 2007. Dr. Dunn is also involved in a current Ingenix initiative to partner with America’s Health Insurance Plans Foundation (AHIPF) to develop a national approach for data aggregation to support physician measurement.
Dr. Dunn’s training is in economics and quantitative methods. He has published more than thirty articles on different topics in health services research.
