Michael Cousins, Ph.D., is a senior consultant with Reden & Anders, an Ingenix company. He has over a decade of experience in health services research, senior management and consulting. Prior to joining Reden & Anders, he served as vice president of Research and Development at Health Dialog, where he led efforts to create outcomes evaluation methods for disease management programs. He also directed predictive modeling development and expanded research based on the Dartmouth Atlas into commercial health plans.
Previously, Cousins was the vice president of Informatics and Reporting at Health Management Corporation, a subsidiary of Anthem/Wellpoint. He led data management, research and development, and outcomes reporting departments.
Cousins is frequently interviewed and quoted by health care publications, and has presented at national conferences including America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), Disease Management Association of America (DMAA), the National Managed Health Care Congress (NMHCC) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA). He is founding chair of the DMAA predictive modeling committee, and has published several white papers and peer-reviewed publications on predictive models and return on investment (ROI) evaluation methodologies.
Cousins holds a B.S. degree and Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Connecticut. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago.
