Foundations of Medical Terminology: Medicine has its own set of unique words and terms to communicate and describe conditions, diseases, symptoms and procedures. While we may be familiar with some terms, others are new and some are even confusing. Many of these terms come from other languages such as Latin, Greek and occasionally Arabic. This course will introduce students to medical terminology and its history. It can be an orientation or training tool for those individuals who need a basic understanding of medical terminology such as those working in customer service, claims processing, coordination of benefits departments, prior authorization and utilization review.
